Republican National Convention • The fourth and final night of the Republican National Convention concluded with Donald Trump’s (@realdonaldtrump) acceptance speech for the party’s nomination for the 2020 presidential election before a live audience on the White House lawn. Trump said, “My fellow Americans, tonight, with a heart full of gratitude and boundless optimism I profoundly accept this nomination for president of the United States.”
Trump continued, “America is not a land cloaked in darkness, it is the torch that enlightens the entire world… Gathered here at the beautiful and majestic White House, known around the world as the people’s house, we marvel at America’s great story.”
Later, speaking about the upcoming election,Trump added, “Your vote will decide whether we protect law-abiding Americans or whether we give free rein to violent anarchists, agitators, and criminals who threaten our citizens… How can the Democrat party ask to lead our country when it spends so much time tearing down our country?… In the left’s backward view, they do not see America as the most free, just, and exceptional national on earth. Instead, they see a wicked nation that must be punished for its sins… But in this country, we don’t look to career politicians for salvation. In America, we don’t turn to government to restore our souls – we out our faith in almighty God.”
